Taylor Swift has become the first female artist ever to hit 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Swift reached this milestone on August 29, 2023. Back in 2014, the singer had pulled her music from the app, saying the app ”did not value her music.” Three years later in June 2017, Swift finally put her music back on Spotify, and since has released eight albums on it, including three re-recordings.
“Taylor Swift was the top artist on my Spotify Wrapped last year,” said Joliet West senior Natalie Bartelt. “I am most excited for her to release Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version). It will be an entirely different album. Her voice will sound so different.” Taylor Swift’s debut album, Taylor Swift was released in 2006. Since then, she has released ten studio albums and three re-recordings. After the release of her most recent album Midnights, Swift announced she would be going on tour. It was named the Eras Tour. The tour has become one of the highest-grossing tours of all time.
Taylor Swift completed the first American leg of the Eras Tour in early August. Over the course of the first leg, she announced the release of two albums and released one. Her album, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) was released July 7 and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. At her final US show on August 9th, Swift announced that she would be releasing 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which is set to come out on October 27. Although currently resting to perform her South America shows, Taylor Swift has been the topic of multiple news reports. Her popular song “Cruel Summer” hit 1 billion streams on Spotify.
Most notably, Swift also announced that on October 13, a full Eras Tour movie would be released in theatres. The film will show an entire night of one of Swift’s Los Angeles shows. The movie will be shown at AMC, Cinemark, and Regal theaters, only in North America. According to numerous sources, the concert-film earned over $26 million in the first twenty-four hours of selling presale tickets. It is projected that the movie will have the biggest opening weekend for any concert-movie ever.
