This year’s play is Little Woman! This means that many preparations and arrangements come along with it before the final cast can be revealed and later on in the year be performed. This year auditions for little woman play took place on Sept. 3rd of 2024. During this audition time, students who attended the informational meeting to receive their audition materials were able to recite their monologues and scenes from the audition material to the sponsor, Mr. Galli. Mr. Galli would then closely listen to the auditioners.

Some people may be new to auditioning to a play, while others may be experienced already. Sophomore Aaliyah Zepeda. Zepeda, shares her previous experiences, “I was in the fall play last year as a freshman and it was pretty cool. Last year I played the radio DJ for Steel Magnolias and it was neat. I did a voiceover backstage, and I like performing vocally.. I like doing stuff with my voice, it’s fun.” Zepeda, is playing a role in which she says she is mostly going to act vocally. Audition day can also be scary to walk into, as you never know how many people may be auditioning for the same part as you. Zepeda shares that while she was at auditions, some people were in the hallways practicing what they were going to do. Senior Molly Murdock-Schey says part of auditioning was memorizing your scripts audition process was like any other one. We were given a script to memorize and on the day of auditions we walked into the little theater and performed for Mr. Galli.”

After all the auditions were all done and looked at, and a few days later the final cast list was revealed. Practices then take place for a few hours after school from 3:30-6:30 pm. Putting together a play can be time consuming but at the end you have a result of a wonderful play! The Little Women play this year will be open 25th of October through the 27th. In school performances will be on October 24th. This is a good play to watch if you’re interested in the Victorian era!
