In today’s society, technology has seemed to take control of everyday life. Years ago, having a household computer was considered a luxury. However, many schools are putting classroom computers and numerous computer labs throughout the entire school. Knowing this, Joliet Township has decided to take the next step. JT has concocted and asked members of the community to review Strategy One-Action Two, which states, “JTHS will ensure that all teachers are utilizing technology and a variety of effective teaching strategies in order to engage students in relevant lessons.”
The purpose of this action plan is to investigate the possibility of a 1-to-1 computing environment. This would mean that each student and teacher would have access to his or her own personal, portable device, such as a laptop, netbook, or iPad. This would eliminate the need for books, and allow Joliet Township to compete with other schools in technological advancements.
The development of the Strategic Action Plans is a collaborative process. This being said, the members of the community are asked to join the plan leaders on the dates: January 19, January 26, February 2, February 9, and February 16. All meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Administrative Center, located at 300 Caterpillar Drive in Joliet. All meetings will begin at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at these meetings.
