Compassion, confidence, respect, tolerance, responsibility, integrity, and perseverance – seven characteristics JTHS implented that helped them be named Sportsmanship Team of the Year.
Joliet Township boys and girls volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, and football were the teams voted for by coaches to receive the Sportsmanship Team of the Year award. The award is a part of the “Do What’s Right” program through the Illinois High School Association. Joliet Township (JT) was one of 16 Southwest Suburban (Blue) Conference participants to receive the honor this year. Besides receiving this award, JT’s baseball and girls’ soccer were also honored for finishing first.
Coaches vote over the year for the team of their choice and at the end of the year the team with the most points is designated the Southwest Suburban Concerence Sportsmanship School of the year. SWSC coaches vote for overall sportsmanship of the fans, coaches, and players as well.
Being recognized for good sportsmanship is a great honor for JT. All the hard work and goals set by faculty coaches and players has paid off.
