The College football season is underway and there have already been some amazing and nail biting games five weeks into the season! College football brings people together and what I think is one of the most exciting parts is college gameday. Every Saturday Lee Corso, Pat McAfee and the rest of the cast travel to a college town and talk about what they see is the most important exciting game of the week.
College gameday will be traveling to the Lonestar state, Texas for the rivalry in Texas and Oklahoma. Texas is currently ranked #3 and Oklahoma is ranked #12 so it’s a very big matchup with lots of meaning behind it. Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is a Heisman candidate after he took down the previously ranked #3 Alabama in week two. Alabama had a previous 22 game winning streak at home and Texas came into their house and took them down. David Cobb reports, “Texas is superior to Alabama. 247Sports’ No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2021 completed 24 of 38 passes for 349 yards, finding nine different receivers as part of a performance that cemented his name in program history”. Texas had a huge win vs Alabama and are looking to continue their hot streak vs the Sooners.
Another great game in the late slate of games is Kentucky vs Georgia. Georgia opened up as 6.5 point favorites but Kentucky has been sneaky good this year. The Georgia Bulldogs who are the reigning national champions of the NCAA, did lose some key players in the NFL draft this past season. This game could definitely be a crazy upset of the week. Kentucky running back Ray Davis has been a star for this Kentucky offense and could be a problem for Georgia’s defense. Mark Story reports, “Ray Davis produced one of the best individual performances in UK football history in the win over Florida. The 5-10, 216-pound graduate transfer from Vanderbilt ran for 280 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries and scored Kentucky’s fourth TD on a 9-yard pass reception”. Kentucky is currently ranked #20 and could shoot up the rankings if they take this one.
Overall, college football is in for an action packed Saturday and there are some great games and could be a week we take a look back at the end of the season. Will Georgia stay at #1? Will Texas continue their dominance and take down Oklahoma? Well I guess we will have to see.
