Final exams are very stressful, yet important for students at this time of year. It is almost the end of the semester, students are trying to improve their grades, turn in missing assignments, and studying very hard for exams and finals.
Violet Ulrich is a freshman and is taking all honors classes, and it’s her first year of exams and she states, “Everything is piling up and studying for finals exams is getting harder”.
Another freshman Aiden Susner taking all regular classes is taking time at home to prepare for final exams. Susner says, “I do all my work in class so I don’t get homework, then when I have the time at home I will study for the exams”. Final exams can affect students’ mental health, by all the assignments, projects, and studying can lead to heightened anxiety levels among students.
Junior Arely Mendez said, “I think that finals are important, and it helps to like remember things for the next semester because you studied so much beforehand.” But Senior Dakotah Lewis thinks otherwise she said, “If you are doing really well in the class I feel like finals should be optional. If you have an A or B then you’re obviously doing well enough to be able to remember everything.”
On the other hand, students can make final exams less stressful for them by taking a break every once in a while and taking the time to do something active. For example going outside for a little walk can help release endorphins and clear students minds. Students just need to take care of themselves and keep on going till break!
